Costa Mesa, CA (Jan 14, 2012)— The Box contemporary art gallery proudly presents
No Flowers No Guns, a show of works by street-artists around the Orange County area. This collection of mixed media works will open at the Costa Mesa gallery on January 14, 2012, from 7:00 PM until 10:PM. The exhibition will run through Wednesday, March 14, 2012.
The exhibit, by an anonymous collective of street artists, is an irreverent and gritty reflection of the street life buried beneath the placid suburban sprawl of Orange County. Using appropriated images and stencils with sometimes political and sometimes inscrutable slogans executed in rough technique, the artists comment on modern politics, life and laziness.
The artists use a variety of street-art techniques, from stenciled spray paint on paper to blow-torched Plexiglas to create a colorful, vibrant collection of gutter art.
